Hello, I’m Ken Berry and I established The Berry Group with the goal of being the premier luxury custom home builder, specializing in building the best quality homes in the finest communities in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina. With both of my parents being licensed builders, my roots run deep in residential construction. Clemson, South Carolina is home to my family, which includes my wonderful wife, Durema, and our six children. We love this area and are proud to be raising our family here. I am a proud graduate of Clemson University where I earned a degree in Civil Engineering. My early career began as a professional engineer working mostly in the large-scale commercial construction business, on complex projects such as hospitals, historic renovations, research laboratories and educational facilities. Many of the projects I have managed can be found around the campus of Clemson University. While my early career consisted of mainly commercial work, my first love is custom residential. I take great pride in performing high-quality work and bringing the visions of the client and architects to reality.

To make each project a success, I have handpicked and assembled a team of highly qualified managers and craftsmen. All of my staff have an excellent work ethic and are dedicated to delivering the highest quality workmanship to my clients. I am committed to paying them well, providing them with the benefits so needed in today’s world and doing all that is necessary to make their work environment a positive one. This ensures my team will be strong today and for many years to come.

Dick Rogers

Dick Rogers is a dedicated and skilled professional. Dick brings with him many years of experience in luxury residential construction. He is a licensed residential builder with great attention to detail. His ability to work well with people makes him an excellent asset on any Berry Group project site. Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, Dick is a longtime resident of Pickens County and lives in Shady Grove on the family farm with the youngest of his three children.

Matt Reeves

A graduate of Clemson University, Matt Reeves has over 20 years experience in the customer service field with extensive experience in the high-end custom home market and in executive-level renovation project management. Matt is a solution-focused professional with a builder’s eye for quality and a driving passion for service with integrity and a commitment to excellence. Matt strives to far exceed every client’s expectations and with every opportunity to create a friend and client for life. Matt and his wife Jill have three children and live in Seneca.

Thomas Major

A native South Carolinian, Thomas Major was born and reared in the upstate of South Carolina. He received a degree in architectural design from Georgia’s Southern Technical Institute. Thomas has over 25 years of combined experience in upscale residential construction, residential architecture and design. His years of expertise enable him to envision projects from conception to completion. His even-keeled temperament allows him to build relationships with homeowners and subcontractors alike, ensuring a smooth construction experience for all involved. Thomas and his wife reside in Greenville, where she is the primary educator of their two young children.

Deena McCollum

Since 2007 Deena McCollum has brought a wealth of office administration experience to The Berry Group. She started her career in the automotive finance industry working for Ford Motor Credit Company. After holding several positions in the finance and automotive industry, Deena moved into office administration and really enjoys taking care of our company and our employees. Her warmth and ease of manner helps us keep the administrative side of our organization working like a well-oiled machine. Deena considers her greatest accomplishment her family. She loves spoiling her grandson and is looking forward to doing the same for his little brother who is on the way.

Wayne Denton

Working with his Dad in construction at an early age, Wayne has over 30 years in construction and supervision. Wayne brings the highest excellence of experience to every project and works effectively with every team. From the architects to the designers, Wayne brings the clients dreams to reality in a seamless and stress-free environment. Wayne is married to Betty his wife of 40 years and has 3 lovely children, and 2 beautiful grandchildren.

Jeff Vannette

Jeff Vannette learned to love to serve by serving in his church community, on the family farm, at his family’s business, and at their hotel. Working on renovating their hotel and different properties as a teen drew him to home construction. Jeff feels blessed to have worked for some of the finest builders in all the facets of residential construction. He then found his path to starting up an executive home service business and oversaw and helped maintain many luxury high end homes.  Jeff now joins our team with 17 years of experience serving home owners with the express goal of helping them to protect their investments in their homes and businesses. He strives to provide our clients with carefree home ownership. Jeff is happily married to Lynn, his wife of 36 years and enjoys time with their 7 children and 4 grandchildren. They are enjoying their final year of home educating their children after 29 years of doing so. 

Will Baldwin

Will Baldwin graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in business management. He has been a small business owner for over 20 years. Will believes that good communication is the key to a successful job. He moved to North Carolina from

Mobile Alabama, where he gained over 16 years of experience in new construction, real estate, sales and marketing. Will enjoys singing and playing music. His hobbies include fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He also enjoys meeting and working with new people from all over the world. Will is also known for mixing in his humor and impressions to keep things light on the job.  He truly loves to see people smile.

Randy VanOss

Randy is a native of Michigan but loves living in upstate South Carolina in Anderson. He graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Randy brings over 30 years of experience in the construction industry.  He has been married for 38 years and has 3 married children and 4 beautiful grandchildren.

Randy loves all outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, hiking and gardening. He also enjoys custom furniture making.

Susan Lutz

Susan Lutz is new to The Berry Group family. She graduated from Queens College Secretarial Institute  and completed an online medical transcription course through Career Step. Susan brings over 25 years of office and administrative experience with her. Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina,  she moved to Shady Grove  two years ago. Susan has a 17-year-old son who is the light of her life.
